New APSC mirroless from Sony: the a6100 and the top a6600

Sony has just announced two new cameras in the Alpha series, namely the a6100 and a6600. Both of these machines come mounted below (the 6100) and above (the 6600) from the a6400 we introduced a while ago.
Sony: the a6100 and the top a6600

Essentially, they complement the company's mirrorless ASPC range, where the old and muscular a6000 and a5100 remain, with the a6300 and a6500 abolished. The a6600 is Sony's new high-end offer in the category. It is expected to release in October at € 1600, body only. It has quite a few new and interesting features, most notably the battery pack from Sony's full-frame cameras.

Sony: the a6100 and the top a6600

It offers twice as much autonomy, and due to the larger volume of the battery, the grip has become larger and easier to hold. It has all the features of the a6400, such as the new fast focusing system, unlimited video recording capability, continuous eye autofocus which also works in video, microphone input, maintains the a6500's 5axis IBIS and also incorporates headphone output. The electronic viewfinder and screen are the same as the a6400, so we have a touch selfie screen. Compared to the a6400 however, it has no built-in flash.

The second machine announced by Sony, the a6100, is reaching even more people and is expected to have the success of the a6000, which our company representatives have said has sold over 500,000 within 4 years.

Sony: the a6100 and the top a6600

The small α6100 is also based on the a6400 and virtually all it loses is magnesium body (it's plastic), capable of HLG video and has lower EVF resolution. But it retains the microphone input, the tilting touch screen, 4K video, 11fps continuous autofocus, real-time eye autofocus on human and animal photos and generally the same, fast focusing system. Also expected this October at the price of € 900 per body. At the same time, two lenses belonging to the G series were announced. The 16-55 with f2.8 is a much-sought-after lens, while the 70-350 with a variable f4.5-6.3 is a telephoto.

They are high-quality lenses with fast focusing mechanisms to work seamlessly with all cameras. Both lenses are APSC and come in October at € 1300 and € 900 respectively.

Samsung unveils 108MP sensor for Redmi smartphones

Samsung unveils 108MP sensor for Redmi smartphones

The “camera war” on smartphones has warmed up again and Samsung wants to lead this new front. To this end, the South Korean giant introduced a new 108 MP sensor for smartphones. ISOCELL Bright HMX was developed in partnership with Xiaomi and is set to debut at Redmi.

Now Samsung itself has made known the main assets and characteristics of this colossal sensor.

Scheduled for release on one of Xiaomi's upcoming Redmi, this is one of the largest sensors ever made for smartphones. That is, its 1 / 1.33 inch size promises to revolutionize photography with mobile devices, here essentially having one third of the size of the sensor present in the Sony RX100 VII .

Photography and the limits of smartphones

Something that brings us again to the limitations inherent in smartphone cameras. As simple as the laws of physics, there are restrictions on the size of the optics as well as the sensors used. Therefore, the solution mainly involves reduction and subsequent optimization via software.

Still, with 108 MP on the sensor, each individual pixel will be a small size. Something about the simple fact that we are dividing something already small into thousands of individual cells (pixels). However, Samsung claims to use its Tetracell technology that adds four individual pixels.

That is, although the sensor is 108 MP, the light captured by 4 adjacent cells is aggregated into one. Then the final image is produced with about 27 MP resolution. Although it is a considerable reduction, with these dimensions you can print the photos captured by Xiaomi Redmi in large formats.

Samsung's 108 MP sensor will debut on Xiaomi Redmi

Samsung has added even more technology to this sensor such as Smart ISO. Something that automatically selects the ISO value (commonly understood as the sensitivity of the sensor to light). The purpose here is simple and involves simplifying the image capture process.

Therefore, low values will be selected under abundant light conditions, whereas in low light situations the value would be automatically raised. From there, Xiaomi's Redmi smartphones could, for example, focus on optimizing other image processing software.

In addition, Samsung's new sensor enables 6K video recording at 30 fps (6016 x 3384 pixels). In practice, we have a new record resolution for mobile video capture here. Note also that besides the maximum value (6K), there are several other intermediate parameters.

Finally, it is also expected that this new sensor will radically improve photographic performance in low light scenarios. Take, for example, night photography, a point where Samsung has been the target of criticism in the past.

Supposedly the Motorola One Zoom will have a 6.2 inch AMOLED display with Full HD + resolution and possibly an on-screen fingerprint sensor. However, unlike Motorola One Vision and the upcoming One Action, the One Zoom screen will not have the "movie ratio" of 21: 9. Instead, it will have the more common 19.5: 9 aspect ratio.

The Motorola One Zoom will debut at the IFA fair in Berlin next month. Along with One Zoom, the company can also introduce One Action smartphones (a variant of One Mink, already on sale in Brazil) and One Macro at the event.

Supposedly, the Motorola One Zoom will arrive in Europe for the price of approximately $ 1,900.

RealMe: 64MP Smartphone Already Has Official Release Date

RealMe: 64MP Smartphone
Nowadays, there is a big rivalry between two curious smartphone brands, RealMe and Redmi , which is actually basically the 'old lady' rivalry Oppo vs Xiaomi … But this time, it's all up to deciding not only who will be the first one. launch the equipment with 64MP. Also, who will get the most out of the big sensor.

Well, it seems that we already know the answer to one of these questions. According to the latest information, confirmed by the company itself. The new smartphone with a RealMe 64MP Quad-camera module and main sensor has an official release date set for August 15th.

Still, even with the date very close, the company has decided not to disclose the name of its new equipment.

RealMe: 64MP Smartphone

This new information was based on this RealMe Summer Video Technology Communication Meeting brand poster.

That said, the date of this meeting will be on the 15th of August, so you can say that the focus will be the new RealMe smartphone!

Incidentally, this equipment has 4 main photographic sensors, including the main sensor, the Samsung GW1 64MP. This new sensor from Samsung, has a considerable size 1 / 1.72 inches , which is really interesting in a smartphone.

First of all, now the challenge of these brands will be to get the most out of this sensor from the South Korean Giant. After all, here RealMe had no half measures and placed 3 more sensors to “support” the main one.

Still, be aware that the Samsung sensor features Tetracell technology and the ability to take 16MP photos automatically in low light conditions.

In short, both brands are ready to offer great equipment. That on paper, can even mark the photographic market (of smartphones.)

New camera created at Harvard can revolutionize technology

New camera created at Harvard can revolutionize technology

Several animals see the world in a way quite different from ours. This is the case of chimpanzees, who are able to see polarized light. The issue is a little tricky, but it's worth understanding. Roughly, polarized light is a type of light that has undergone some modification after being reflected by a surface. It is invisible to human eyes but obvious to chimpanzees. The detail is that, from polarized light, it is much easier to determine depth, texture, shape, and even distinguish natural objects from artificial objects. There are already several cameras that can see the world in the same way as chimpanzees. But, until now, they were big and expensive.

Today, Harvard researchers have announced a compact model. To achieve the reduction, the scientists worked with nanometric structures. Evolution is so important, it must influence countless segments. The new camera can be incorporated into stand-alone cars, which will gain much more precision when identifying objects. The satellites will also benefit: armed with cameras like this, they will be able to identify even objects that are camouflaged. And even our smartphones can benefit, with the possibility of much more precise systems of object recognition. As the new camera just got ready in the experiment phase, you still have no idea of the costs of the device. But the scientists involved in the research are betting that it will influence a lot on the planet for years to come.

Xiaomi is preparing a flagship smartphone with a camera-periscope

This year, in the mobile industry, a new trend is gaining popularity - periscope cameras. These cameras are equipped with smartphones Huawei P30 Pro and OPPO Reno with 10x zoom. It seems that the company Xiaomi may soon form a company for them since the Chinese technology giant has recently patented a similar design for its future smartphone at the State Intellectual Property Office of China. The application was filed back in December last year and approved only on July 2. The document describes the design scheme of the mobile device's camera, which includes at least one primary lens and one additional lens located perpendicular to the primary one.

Thanks to the process of refraction of light, the periscope lens will allow zooming without the need to increase the size of the main camera and, accordingly, the device itself. The result of this is the possibility of enlarging the image with optical stabilization without loss of quality. The existing solutions of Huawei and OPPO have a focal length of 125 and 135 mm, so it is expected that Xiaomi will adhere to the same range.
